What if I'm wrong about them?

Good question to keep asking — and a sign of empathy, not narcissism. The reflection isn't a verdict on the person. It names patterns in behavior. A clinician makes the diagnosis; we just give you vocabulary.

Will this make things worse?

What's the difference between NPD and BPD?

Narcissistic (NPD) and borderline (BPD) personality patterns both involve unstable relationships and intense reactions, but the core driver differs. Narcissistic patterns center on protecting a grandiose self-image, often with little empathy. Borderline patterns center on a deep fear of abandonment and an unstable sense of self, usually with genuine remorse afterward. Put simply: NPD tends to push others down to feel superior; BPD tends to cling out of terror of being left.
