There's no fixed timeline — most survivors describe real relief in months and deeper rebuilding over one to a few years, depending on how long it lasted, whether contact continues, and what support you have. Healing also isn't linear: setbacks are part of the path, not proof you're failing at it.
Not 'never thinking about them.' It's thinking about them without the charge — the story becoming something that happened to you, not something happening in you. Their voice in your head gets quieter, and yours gets audible again.
