Grandiosity — what it means

An inflated sense of one's own importance, talent, or specialness, out of step with reality. It can be loud (overt) or a quiet, unshakable certainty (covert). The first of the nine DSM-5 criteria for NPD.

What it looks like

Not just confidence — a baseline assumption that ordinary rules, lines, and people don't apply to them, and a flash of contempt when the world doesn't agree.
