Black-and-white thinking — what it means

The cognitive shape of splitting — people, choices, and situations seen as wholly good or wholly bad, with no shading. Lived as truth in the moment, often reversing within hours.

What it looks like

She loves the new therapist on Tuesday — "finally, someone who gets me." By Thursday the therapist is "a fraud who doesn't care." Neither is calibrated to anything the therapist said. The flip itself is the symptom.
